The quarantine continues to affect our lives, but events in which participants do not get out of their cars have already been published. It was this release from quarantine that led to the March 11 patriotic march.
On the afternoon of Independence Day, a column of more than ten cars moved from Mega and drove through several city streets towards the central part of Kaunas. The organizers of the event had several requests for the participants: to wash the cars before the event so that the dust did not overshadow the festive atmosphere, as well as to decorate their vehicles with flags of Lithuania, Kaunas, Vytis and not to get out of the car unnecessarily.
“We plan to drive in a really slow way to have a good column of cars. We tried to design the route in such a way that there were as few traffic lights as possible, but also so that the neighbors felt the celebration. Symbolically, without getting out of the car, we visit the main historical places of Kaunas. The quarantine does not restrict the event with cars, so we do not violate anything, ”said an organizer of the event in Kaunas, Rita Kybartienė.
A column of tricolor cars moved from Šilainiai, over Marvelė, Vytautas the Great Bridge, Karaliaus Mindaugas Avenue, several other central streets of Kaunas. After passing the center, the column headed to the Old Town and completed the festive route to Kaunas Castle, at whose entrances was the statue of the Soldier of Liberty.
The festive residents of Kaunas who participated in such a column believed that it was necessary to commemorate March 11, and since a large number of participants had gathered, it was possible to feel a general impulse. Kaunas residents said the column on the city streets was accompanied by the fascinated gaze of passersby, many of them pulling out mobile phones to perpetuate such Independence Day accents.
According to the organizers of the attractions, similar events will take place in other Lithuanian cities on Thursday. About 200 cars gathered for rides in the capital.
