“Lithuania stands ready to provide Estonia with the assistance it most needs at this time to combat the intensified coronavirus pandemic,” Landsbergis said.
The Ministers of the two countries also discussed the most relevant issues of bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation: joint energy and transport infrastructure projects, priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers in 2021, nuclear security, Eastern Partnership, regional security and defense, European green course and climate change, other topics on the EU and international agenda.
Speaking on nuclear safety, Minister G. Landsbergis emphasized the need for joint efforts to ensure that unsafe electricity is not bought from the Astrava nuclear power plant, which, according to Lithuanian experts, reaches the markets of the Baltic countries.
The Lithuanian head of diplomacy will also participate in the meeting of the three Baltic and UK foreign ministers in Tallinn, reports the Foreign Ministry. This is the first visit of Minister G. Landsbergis to Estonia, when he assumed the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
