The government’s expert council is proposing to allow stores larger than 300 square feet with separate entrances to work, but impose requirements on them to restrict flows, require medical masks or respirators, and test staff regularly.
“Last week a discussion began and yesterday the Council of Experts decided to present proposals to the Government on the requirements for commercial companies that supply non-essential goods larger than 300 m2. meters, ”said Vaidotas Grigas, a member of the Molėtai Hospital, a member of the Advisory Council of Independent Experts on the Management of the COVID-19 Disease, in a press conference on Tuesday.
“Access to commercial space, to commercial space, must be through a separate exterior exit,” he said.
According to him, it is proposed to control the number of buyers, set the area for one buyer, admit only customers with med. Workers must also wear masks or respirators. Staff should also be periodically inspected for COVID-19.

Supermarket decisions – in the near future
According to V. Grigo, experts will continue to debate when and how the stores with entrances inside the supermarkets could be opened.
“There are large supermarkets where individual stores are accessed from the inside, so this issue is still being addressed, in fact there will be a discussion with the supermarket managers on this issue,” he said.
More discussions are planned for this week with a view to reaching an agreement with the governors.
“I think we will make proposals on this in the near future,” Grig said.
He said it was proposed not to allow stores to come with scarves and shields, requiring them to wear medical masks or respirators at those outlets.
In the past, experts have suggested that these measures be mandatory everywhere, but the government did not consider such a provision at the time.
Restrictions on the second quarantine in the country have been in place since November, then tightened and movement controls were introduced between municipalities in mid-December.
At the end of February, the government extended the quarantine until the end of March and the control of movement between municipalities until mid-March, except for ring municipalities.
In early February, hairdressers, beauty salons and non-food stores were allowed to work with some restrictions.
According to V. Grigo, the new exemptions are granted taking into account that the situation has not deteriorated after the liberalization of the activities of the smaller establishments.
