Sánchez worked for a rice-producing company through which the defendant laundered money, the prosecutor said.
At the time, defense attorney Eylan Schulman was trying to discredit what the witness might plan to tell jurors.
“$ 25,000 is enough to bribe the president,” Schulman said, adding that Sánchez “has a lot to gain and little to lose.” He has an asylum application that is being processed by the immigration service. “
US prosecutors believe that JOHernández is Fuentes’s conspirator to transport tons of cocaine to the United States, but they have not charged the president of Honduras.
The Honduran leader’s brother, Tony Hernández, was convicted in 2019 in a New York court of large-scale drug smuggling.
