Fausta Marija Leščiauskaitė announced that she had submitted a request to separate from the Church on Wednesday evening. The current affairs of recent days have contributed more to this decision: the statements of some clerics against the LGBT community, the agitation to sign a petition against the Istanbul Convention.
Such a move by a woman has received a lot of attention online. Fausta also received messages from priests, but claims that they were, contrary to many imaginations, positive. However, it was not with laughter that other believers began to attack her.
On Friday afternoon, the journalist posted a post on Facebook describing the reactions he received, explaining why he had made his decision public, and regretting that several people, including those who had approached the Church, had yet to receive a response.

The woman agreed to share her recording with 15 minutes readers.
“In fact, I have not received as many referrals as I have received from the ecclesial community in a long time. I am not sensitive to blasphemy, I like to curse when the desire arises, but I always think, man, that they must be better, more generous, more pure there. On the other hand, for a long time there have been sleighs that travel to church to meet rumors, and there are people who find peace and meaning in prayer.
It is very important for me to reiterate that my movement is not intended to offend the choice of believers. Your god is your right. Your prayer is your right. Your faith is your right. I respect their faith, the need of the church, the only question is: can they respect my right? Some are successful, others go into debt in the name of God.
I received several personal letters from priests. Not everyone has been able to answer yet, but I will answer, but they are calm. All, even one, claim to respect free will. The response of the pastor of Kelmė parish brought much respect for the church, tactfully and beautifully, with beautiful and truly spiritual wishes.
However, the reality of the official separation from the Church is not so rewarding. People say they do not receive answers, although they ask questions, the curia of the Archdiocese of Vilnius has not answered me yet, but I am not in a hurry, maybe they will really answer, it has been relatively little time. On the other hand, not a single representative of the media has already managed to say that the clergy who usually speak with kindness this time shudder as the devil shakes himself to comment on the situation. Except for a couple that I really like, I admire.
People ridiculously ask if the decision needed to be made public. But I am a content creator who has chosen not to talk about swimwear fashion, but about my own opinions, experiences and values. And when I write about my relationship with the actions of the Seimas members, when I write about dogs, when I write about violence, for some reason, such questions do not arise. I think it is up to me to decide what topics I want to discuss in public. And this is what I want. Because it is a civilized way of expressing your views in a democracy: leaving communities that do not match your beliefs and talking about it.
Will the Church make a difference because Fausta Marija Leščiauskaitė says she does not respect their conversations of the last days? No I dont think so. But Fausta Marija Leščiauskaitė is not alone. There are many people who say that the speeches of the Church representatives about homosexuals as perverts are shameful and sinful. Including believers. Even the clergy. And maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one day the ears will have to be plugged. Or the Church will fall apart again, as has happened in history. It is true that it seems to me that the decomposition has already begun.
I wasn’t brave enough to make that decision, but I did and was relieved. God and the devil are in action. And it is quite possible that in my disagreement with the division of the people, God is much more than we are kneeling at the altar for some, ”wrote FMLeščiauskaitė.
15 minutes recalls that in response to the news in recent weeks, a few days ago a public invitation to leave the institution of the Church formally appeared on the official Facebook page of Vilnius Pride. An explanation of how to do this is also provided in the entry below.
“Each and everyone who is frustrated with the institution of the Church and tired of interfering in people’s lives, and at the same time formally leaving the Church. Apply in writing (by letter or email) to your diocesan curia (where you were baptized) with a dated and signed application.
In November, Polish activists told us that in response to pedophile scandals by priests and attempts by the Church to further restrict the rights of women and LGBT + people, people began to organize en masse and formally abandon the institution of the Church. This week, Lukas Mykolaitis’ recording of a similar initiative of his, which we thank for his inspiration, also received attention in Lithuania.
During the current discussions on the Council of Europe Convention to Prevent and Combat Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (also known as the Istanbul Convention) and the legalization of associations and other human rights issues, representatives of the Church in Lithuania they continue to actively intervene in legislative processes. What progress in the field of human rights, incites hatred in society and dictates how we all live.
Many of us have probably been baptized at an age where we have not yet been able to decide for ourselves if we want to be part of an institution that actively seeks to control our lives and restrict our rights. Recent events seem like a great opportunity to express our disapproval of the current policy of the Lithuanian Catholic Church and to formally leave this institution.
Therefore, we urge you to formally leave the church and thus express your disapproval of the current policy of the ecclesiastical institution, which promotes hatred and division of society, ”it is written on the Vilnius Pride Facebook page.
