“It is likely that we should address this issue in the first year of the mandate, at least that is my opinion. And I think we will have this issue in the autumn session, “V. Čmilytė-Nielsen told reporters at the Seimas.
According to the president of Seimas, the Association Law is scheduled to be debated in the spring session. V. Čmilytė-Nielsen believes that this law will receive the necessary support in the Seimas and will be adopted.
“I have spoken repeatedly about human rights initiatives in the Seimas and I believe that we should have as much support as possible from our colleagues when it comes to issues that have matured for a long time. We will definitely look for it. I personally (support – ELTA) I will also seek opposition, “said the head of parliament.
“Because it is important that this is not treated as an agenda imposed by one or another political force, but as human rights issues that are important to all Lithuanian citizens, which have already been resolved,” V. Čmilytė-Nielsen also emphasized.
