The Minister said that he was considering changing the restrictions not even by individual municipalities, but by certain groups.

“The situation is that when we see how the number of diseases in individual municipalities now looks, we see that certain groups have formed. This has resulted in geographic regions with a very similar disease situation. Or clusters, where the situation is not bad, or where the situation is not very good, the municipalities are marked in black ”, said A. Bilotaitė.

“Since the Government approved a plan for release from quarantine, we are meeting today to discuss how that plan could be applied to individual municipalities, and perhaps even individual groupings. That it could be for a different period, for different municipalities ”, said the Minister.

He said there was also talk of a possible movement restriction. But no concrete decisions have been made yet.

“The question would be how to ensure that these people do not leave the ‘black municipalities’ and do not share the virus widely. This issue will have to be resolved and decided by the Government. But that we see certain problems, yes, we will have to assess them, “said the Minister of the Interior.

When asked to clarify how it might look, Minister A. Bilotaitė stated that this will still be discussed at a meeting of the Government Emergency Situations Commission (WESC) on Monday.

“It just came to our attention then. Still, these problems will travel to other formats, especially the WEU. There we will look for ways to achieve the best results,” said the Minister.

He stressed that the first priority is the field of education.

Possible areas identified for release

Mindaugas Sinkevičius, president of the Association of Lithuanian Municipalities, who participated in the press conference, regretted that not everyone wants to get tested for the coronavirus.

“This makes it difficult for our common interest to test certain segments as soon as possible,” he said.

M. Sinkevičius stated that he would support the reduction of quarantine restrictions in the most attractive municipalities.

“Most of it deals with the north and west of Lithuania. The language in terms of releases had to do with education, culture. (…) It was emphasized that although we do not have state television, we see the need to speak as much as possible , with the help of commercial broadcasters, to work as much as possible on the promotion and information about the benefits of the tests and the vaccine. ”Said the mayor of Jonava, M. Sinkevičius.

Delphi Remember that Interior Minister A. Bilotaitė hinted that at the meeting of the Government Emergency Situations Commission (WESC) to be held on Monday it is intended to consider a plan on quarantine conditions for municipalities with different epidemiological situations.

Changes in movement restrictions will also be associated with this. Extending the universal quarantine until March 31, they were extended until March 15.
