The capital municipality awaits information from the STT on the heads of the detained institutions

“We do not have official information and we are waiting for it. All we know is that on Tuesday evening STT received the head of the Šeškinė polyclinic and one of the employees, as well as the head of the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital and two other people, ”he told LRT radio on Thursday.

E.Tamošiūnaitė stated that once the STT report is received, the necessary measures will be taken: if there is a requirement, the managers will be removed from their position.

The STT announced Wednesday that it is conducting a large-scale pre-trial investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of medical equipment and other medical devices at various healthcare facilities in the country.

Later, it became clear that Daiva Kanopienė, director of the Šeškinė polyclinic, Narimantas Markevičius, director of the Vilnius Clinical Hospital, Virginijus Domarkas, head of the medical equipment trading company Limeta, member of the Kretinga District Council, Kęstutis Kutkauskas, shareholder of both companies were arrested.

The allegations were also brought against Erlandas Sudeikis, chairman of the board and shareholder of Graina, a company also located in Panevėžys, which also sells medical equipment.

According to the LNK Knowledge Service, around 20 directors, doctors and technical staff of medical institutions have already been arrested in the STT investigation, and law enforcement agencies are interested in Radviliškis, Utena polyclinics and Kėdainiai hospital.
