The search for a man drowned in an ice under the ice was stopped: according to preliminary data, he tried to rescue his dog

Saturday at 1:42 pm A message was received at the general emergency center at emergency number 112 that a man was submerged in ice in the Neris river in Vilnius, near Meškeriotojų street.

The Vilnius County Fire and Rescue Forces were dispatched to the scene as information, and information about the incident was relayed to the Vilnius Ambulance Station and the Vilnius County Police Chief Commissariat.

A little later, it was reported that two people fell into the river, however: a man and a woman. It is said that people climbed onto the ice to rescue a dog that fell on a dam. The woman made it to shore and the man and dog sank under the ice.

Search aborted

Rescue teams on the scene were looking for a man, but as tv3.lt reported to the situation coordinators of the Fire Protection and Rescue Department (PAGD), the search stopped.

The man was visually searched while walking on the ice. There is no data yet on when the search will be updated.
