Queues for a day
Still, stores of this type that have been operating for almost a week have experienced that the shoppers shack was only a one-day hit.
After the government slightly released the quarantine shackles last week, shops, kiosks and pavilions with separate entrances, with a commercial area not exceeding 300 m2. meter. On the first day after such changes in the cities, the longest queues of shoppers extended to second-hand clothing stores.
One day some such shops in Panevėžys claim to be popular. Currently most of them are already operating on J. Basanavičius, Vilnius and other streets, but the queues are no longer visible at any of the gates. And here on the outskirts of Velžis in the village of Kirkūnai, the huge red hangars for second-hand clothes are still closed. This market is 1500 square meters M. m area is much larger than the government allows.
Accustomed to the Internet did not go up
“It was thought of enclosing a 300 square meter bar. m of commercial space, but according to the rules set by the government can not. Therefore, we are not working yet, ”says Lina Antanaitytė, director of the second-hand clothing store located in the Velžio hangars.
She has no doubt that the resumption of trade will lead to an influx of buyers.

“To find out what is already happening! People ask for admission, call, ask when we will open. The phone is burning from the calls ”, says L. Antanaitytė.
According to her, it seems that people no longer have to dress. As spring approaches, shoppers are already looking for clothing and footwear for the warmer season.
“Now children are the ones who need clothes the most, they grow up fast. Moms look for jackets, shoes for the little ones. Men have a great demand for pants,” says the director.
After the start of the quarantine and the closure of all non-food stores, according to L. Antanaitytė, it was thought to move the used clothing trade to the electronic space. However, that income would have cost too much patience.
“We think about e-commerce, but what would we gain? The garment must be measured and inspected; When shipped to a buyer selling it online, neither the size nor the color are realistic. More claims than profits, ”says the store manager.
For 10 years now, the director of the hangars outside Velis and his staff have been waiting for the day when they can trade again. But first, according to the manager, it will be necessary to undertake the remodeling of the store.
“The clothes are still hanging in the hangars. If we open in the spring, we will have to change them to next season’s range.” From the current assortment, something will remain in the warehouses for next winter, something will go to textile waste ”, thinks L. Antanaitytė.
Fashion clothes
According to her, the losses will be inevitable, but the most unfortunate thing is the lost Christmas period, when the store was ready not only for second-hand clothes, but also for a big sale of Christmas garlands and decorations.
Does not count clients
After the resumption of non-food stores on the first day, the queue of buyers arrived at the second-hand clothing store Ventura in Panevėžys. Still, such a success was only one day.
According to the head of this company, Žydrūnas Budvidas, now there are no more queues, there is no need to limit the number of buyers. However, according to him, it is better to have fewer clients than not to work and to be without income for two months.
“We had concerns about the product range, it needs to be changed. But it’s better than not working at all,” says Ž. Budvidas.
The Rada store on J. Basanavičiaus street also confirms the influx.
The leaders of the second-hand clothing chain Gausa, which is scheduled to open its doors next week, are not expecting queues. According to them, restricted movement between municipalities has the greatest impact on small businesses. Especially when some of these companies will still be unable to operate because they don’t have a separate outlet to the field.
