If the water level reaches a critical level of 1.6 meters, a civil protection specialist will be notified immediately, who will turn on the sirens. This will signal to residents that an evacuation is required.
Elders Lina Mišeikienė and Violeta Armolaitienė assured that residents are already preparing for a possible flood and protecting their property.
“It just came to our notice then. We searched not only all residents, but also their animals, wells. Everyone knows when to evacuate and how to do it safely,” Elder L. Mišeikienė said.

Firefighters rescued 22 boats
Mindaugas Belickas, the head of the fifth team of the Kaunas Fire and Rescue Board, stressed that the primary rescue forces will be activated when the water in Neris rises to 0.6 meters.
“We know how suddenly the water can rise, so we have to be prepared,” he explained.
The firefighters are ready 22 rescue boats to be evacuated, 37 water pumps. 30 firefighters will come to the rescue.
