“By encouraging residents to abandon gas cylinders in apartment buildings, we are investing in the safety of our people,” Energy Minister Dainius Kreivys said in the statement.
Up to 726 euros (VAT included) will be allocated for an apartment; 242 euros will be allocated for the conversion of electrical or gas engineering systems of apartment houses, apartments, as well as for the purchase of an electric or gas stove. In addition, the administrative costs of the representative of various apartments will be reimbursed.
Applications will be accepted and evaluated by the Environmental Project Management Agency (APVA) before June 1.
In 2020, more than 900 apartment buildings were abandoned by gas cylinders, of which more than 400 applied for financing and more than 300 received almost 4.5 million. 5,860 gas cylinders were removed from homes.
Currently, there are still around 1,500 apartment buildings in the country, where gas cylinders are used for cooking.
