A dramatic victory in the Euroleague was achieved by the club Bayern Munich (16/10), which 72:70 (18:21, 19:17, 14:20, 21:12) broke the Tel Aviv Maccabi team (10/14).
The decisive one was the penalties of Nick Weiler-Babbo, who snatched the victory 9 seconds from time.
The Tel Aviv club led most of the game, with Bayern approaching only the end of the second quarter (37:38), but Maccabi again shot forward after the break. Before the third quarter, the guests were leading 48:39, and the hosts’ attempts to eliminate the deficit with shots as long as Paul Zipser’s were still resisted: 58:51.
Still, early in the fourth quarter, Maccabi was unable to score for 3 minutes, allowing Bayern to close in (55:58), and Wade Baldwin finally compared the result to 60:60. This is where the tense 4 minutes began. The teams changed their serve, one after the other, until W. Waldwin increased Bayern’s lead to 4 – 68:64 with his shot.
Against Žižičius and then John Dibartolomeo scored for the Maccabi team, for which an even result was added (70:70), but Nick Weiler-Babb added the penalties. They became fatal.
