Avenue A.Juozapavičius is full of heavy machinery. In this place, near the Nemunas, the first skyscrapers of Šančiai will rise.
Some Chansans are outraged by this, because they are convinced that three sixteen floors will create a solid space, a landscape, but others do not hide their optimism: “At last they will fix that garbage”, “Force, it will be beautiful.”
High trio A.Juozapavičiaus ave. 139A, where the auto service once operated, stems from a project unveiled to the public two and a half years ago, which has received both community resistance and feedback from the Kaunas Regional Council for Architecture (RAT).

In its conclusions, the RAT indicated then that the project did not meet the urban integrity criterion established in the Architecture Law, it lacked the analysis of the spatial-aesthetic and landscape impact of the plot, and the harmonious connection with the environment.
One of the sixteen-story architects, Gintautas Natkevičius, told Kauno Diena that Kaunas RAT’s reproaches had been answered and that a building permit had then been obtained.
What can we do now? Legally, nothing. A building permit has been issued. Will we have each other in those wells?
According to him, the draft after presentation and consideration is basically nothing strange. The first building in the complex could be completed in a year and a half.
“What can we do now? Legally – nothing. A construction permit has been issued. Will we have each other in those wells? Construction will not stop anymore,” said a member of the Šančiai community, noting that a strong community had gathered too late. He regretted that the RAT recommendations were not even taken into account when issuing the building permit.
“There is a very unsustainable development throughout the city, when apartment buildings are inserted into the old and built streets. There are immediate problems with parking and lighting. This is happening in all districts. Construction has already started, wells foundation are already being demolished “

The land near the railway bridge for the construction of a multi-story building was started thirteen years ago. The investor then planned to build a building with up to 30 floors.
