The story of a small town that showed the true cruelty of the Nazis: this crime horrified even the commanders of the SS

Although there were many feared military units during WWII, the most famous and brutal is the SS. Schutzstaffel, liet. “Protective equipment”). The members of this paramilitary organization did not swear to Germany but to Adolf Hitler himself.

The Nazis destroyed many villages, including Pirčiupiai, Miliūnai, Ablinga, and others in Lithuania, but the history of the village of Oradour-sur-Glane in southern France is exceptional.

When one of the battalions of the SS “Reich” division (about 200 men) entered the village on June 10, 1944, the inhabitants paid no attention to the Nazis; after all, they have not yet flown and did not disturb civilians from those lands. Only a few residents panicked and tried to escape. Mayor Jean Dsourteaux laughed at those people and said that the next day they could show where they were hiding from rehearsals.

But the mayor was assassinated the same day. The actions of the soldiers that day were so cruel that the SS commanders decided to hold a military tribunal. Only a few people survived and were able to tell what really happened.

If the tooth is broken, it will not enter the SS.
