“Yesterday we discussed the extension of the quarantine conditions in the expert council and the entire expert council unanimously agreed that the quarantine as such a measure should be extended,” said Vaidotas Grigas, director of the public institution Molėtai Hospital, at a conference of press this Tuesday.

According to him, this decision was made in view of the fact that the number of new cases detected per day is no longer decreasing and is even showing signs of increase.

“This is certainly not the third wave that has been transmitted, but it is worrying,” said a member of the expert council.

According to V. Grigo, although the situation has improved significantly, the number of both cases and hospitalizations has stopped decreasing.

According to him, the specific dates remain in the hands of the Government.

“It just came to our attention then. Here, of course, the decision is left to the government. Our recommendation is for a longer period of time,” said V. Grigas.

He said the recommendation includes a policy provision to continue the quarantine, but its conditions could continue to be relaxed, and more importantly simply without risking the immediate release of all or most of the restrictions.

“Every week there are discussions in different sectors, that I know, there will be communication with the cultural sector this week. The Council of Experts is constantly reviewing and revising and making proposals to the Government on how to apply which measures and which could be facilitated ”, said V. Grigas.

Currently, the quarantine in Lithuania is valid until February 28.

The portal tv3.lt recalls that the Government has also presented proposals on the policy of wearing masks.
