A calculator has been developed that allows residents to calculate personal inflation.

[ad_1]

Inflation is the increase in the general price level over a period of time, while personal inflation is the measure of the increase in the price level of goods and services purchased by a particular population.

According to the Bank of Lithuania, the personal inflation of each inhabitant may differ from the average inflation in Lithuania, because the consumer goods and services purchased by individuals and their quantities, and therefore the expenditures allocated to them, differ.

After entering personal consumption expense data, the calculator shows how prices in the consumer basket have changed compared to last year. You can also view your personal inflation history on the chart and compare your consumer basket to the average Lithuanian basket.

The Bank of Lithuania’s personal inflation calculator provides:

  • Calculate your personal inflation and find out why it is higher or lower than the average inflation in Lithuania;
  • to find historical data on average personal inflation in Lithuania and individual groups of goods and services since 1993;
  • compare the composition of your consumption basket with the composition of the average consumption basket per Lithuanian resident;
  • to see which groups of goods and services have increased their price and prices more in the last month.

The spreadsheet can be found here.
