“We will not tolerate any illegal action by the criminal. Anyone who does not comply with the legal requirements of an environmentalist is, at least, at least administratively responsible,” says Olga Vėbrienė, Director of the Department of Environmental Protection.
Environmentalists from Šiauliai, after receiving a notification that a person had illegally caught a pike in Lake Rėkyva of Šiauliai City Municipality, immediately went to the scene. Other agreed fishermen were also searched for the designated person. As there was more than one, the officers separated.
When the Šiauliai environmentalist approached one of the fishermen and asked him to show him the box with the catch, the person pushed the environmentalist and threw the pike to the plow.
“The person was asked if they had caught pike. I received an answer, I understood it. Then I leaned over to the opaque white bag in the fishing box. When he touched it, the fish latched on and a pike head appeared. I asked the amateur fisherman to back down because he wanted to catch a pike. However, unexpectedly, the citizen grabbed a pike, hit me hard on the clavicle and threw it into the water, ”says Jovita Martinonienė, an official with the Šiauliai Environmental Protection Inspectorate.
According to the environmentalist, the person categorically denied having caught the pike, but admits that he took action against the official.
A criminal who decides to dispose of a pike caught in the presence of an official will not escape his responsibility. You face a fine of up to € 300 and will have to pay environmental damage: € 240. Infringement tools were also taken.
Furthermore, as the official did not comply with the legal requirements, the offender was sued and fined up to € 700.
