It is proposed to impose fines of 300-600 euros (instead of 30-140 euros) for violations of bodies of water or coastal protection strips through fences or restriction of passage, and fines of 450-750 euros (90-290 euros) to the enterprise. managers.

Linas Jonauskas, one of the promoters of the amendments, told BNS that now the fines are very small.

“If a person is not administratively sanctioned, half of the fine currently imposed for illegal fences is 15 euros. Such fines are very small and do not motivate people to tear down those fences,” the parliamentarian told BNS.

Among other things, according to him, after paying the fine, the man temporarily removes the fence “for the eyes” to persuade the officials, but then he fences again.

“Or you add all kinds of bushes, which prevent you from going through the body of water and reaching it,” said L. Jonauskas.

According to him, if the Seimas approves the amendments, higher fines will be imposed for the fencing of lakes, rivers, ponds and ponds.

According to L. Jonauskas, last year the Department of Environmental Protection received more than 300 complaints about violations of the coastal protection zones.

If the amendments are approved, lower fines (€ 30-290) will apply for minor infractions, such as cattle pasture, cars under construction or garbage. Penalties of between € 50 and € 550 will be maintained for repeated offenses.
