The Lithuanian who contributed to the creation of Perseverance shares his article on the main mission of the Martian, published on the portal 82menuliai.lt. Simona Liukaityte-Suszczynska.
This Red Planet exploration mission is unique not only in NASA history but also in the history of all mankind. For the first time, the Martian will embark on a multi-mission task of unloading rocks from Mars to Earth, which scientists will attempt to answer the question of whether life ever existed on a planet reminiscent of Earth.

Preparing samples for shipment to Earth is far from the Martian’s only task. The robot will analyze the climate of Mars, the geological past and present, the chemical composition of the rocks, the existence of signs of life. Another objective of this mission is to answer questions that will help a person land and survive on the Red Planet.
Landing on Mars is very difficult: only 40% of all missions sent by humanity have been successful. The probability of landing safely on the surface of Mars is less than that allowed on Earth, the Moon, Venus or Titan.
Why is the Martian’s Landing called “Seven Minutes of Terror” and why landed himself, without the direct control of NASA engineers? Read more on the 82menuliai.lt portal.
