In the sixth preseason control game, Vilnius Knights defeated Panevėžys 1: 0 and took the fourth win in the preparation period. Artūras Dolžnikovas became the scorer of the only goal.
Compared to last week’s game against Žalgiris, the Knights’ starting lineup changed by three players. This time Armantas Vitkauskas, Arthur Ymele and Justinas Marazas entered the square from the first moments.
The duel began cautiously, but control of the ball belonged to Panevėžys. After several shots from Panevėžys near the goal, “Knights” took a hit and his first serious chance became a goal. Deividas Malžinskas made a good effort to break through to the right, but the home team’s left defense cleared the ball for a corner.
In the second half of the half, the game did not change much: the Knights controlled the ball a little more and Panevėžys’ team tried to punish the hosts with quick attacks. Some of them were a bit more promising, but no very serious danger was created at the Knights’ Gate.
After the break, the Knights did not make any changes. Overall, this match was the first in which up to ten players played the full 90 minutes. The only change occurred in the middle of the second half, when Justinas Marazas was replaced by Juozas Lubas.
Panevėžys started the second half more actively. The ball visited the Knights’ penalty area several times, at the same time that A. Vitkauskas was forced to join the game.
It is true that the people of Panevėžys regressed very quickly and the game stabilized again. For much of the time, both teams played “goalless”. Memorable situations include Dominykas Barauskas hitting the head after a good pass from J. Maraz and Panevėžys’ chance to play three minutes before the end of the match. Then it all started with the error of “Knights” and only the dominance of A. Vitkauskas did not allow “Panevėžys” to equalize the result.
Composition of the “Knights”: A. Vitkauskas, D. Malžinskas, O. Badmus, D. Barauskas, A. Levšinas, T. Dombrauskis, V. Jeriomenko, A. Ymele, J. Marazas (68 min. J. Lubas) , A Dolznikov, G. Paulauskas.
