“10,654 people in the country were vaccinated against COVID-19 on Thursday, according to updated data this morning!” The first day we reached the five-digit number of people vaccinated per day, and for that I want to be happy and thank who contributed to it ”, announced this Saturday the president in the social network.

The president highlights that the second dose of the vaccine has already been administered to doctors, nursing home residents, other people at higher risk, as well as to most primary school teachers who have been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine.

“The vaccination process is accelerating, there is increasing good knowledge about future deliveries of vaccine doses to Lithuania in the coming months. The European Commission anticipates that we will receive one and a half times more vaccines in March than in February, and the supply will grow several times faster in the second quarter of this year than in the first. Together, we are approaching step by step the goal agreed by the European Council in January of achieving public immunity this summer, “said the president.

According to the president, the number of vaccines received in the second quarter of this year will significantly increase the vaccination rate. “Once we hit the 10,000 mark, we should get to 20,000 and by mid-spring more than 30,000 people vaccinated a day,” says G. Nausėda.

According to the Department of Statistics, 6154 people were vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine and 3229 people were vaccinated with the second day. The day before, those numbers were slightly higher, topping 10,000. cutoff: 5,754 people received the first dose of the vaccine and 4,226 people received the second dose.

A total of 120,010 people were vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Lithuania and 66,725 people with both doses.
