Arsenal of firearms found in Vilnius: not only weapons but also ammunition found during search

The preliminary investigation was launched after receiving information that a Vilnius resident was interested in various firearms and possibly illegally disposed of firearms.

During the investigation, the police found that in the capital he trades second-hand goods, second-hand goods, and possibly buys weapons, ammunition and explosives. After collecting additional data and with sufficient reasons to believe that the information was indeed reasonable and real, it was decided to delay and detain the person so that the weapons, ammunition or explosives in his possession were not passed on to third parties.

S. meter. February. the person was arrested and procedural coercive measures were carried out – searches. Immediately after his arrest, he declared that he did not have and never had any prohibited articles in civil circulation.

While officers searched his residence, cars, the man behaved confidently and even showed his rented warehouses where the items he sold were kept.

During the investigation, officers had collected data on his rented premises, but the man was silent about another warehouse he rented. When asked to open a warehouse known to officers, the suspect was confused, denied it, but realizing that officers had the right and would enter the room, he agreed to open it.

During the search, 9 weapons of different caliber and 418 ammunition of different caliber were found. Also during another search of a house on the outskirts of Vilnius, 205 munitions of various calibers were found. In other words, a large enough arsenal of potentially firearms was found.

The person received a notification of suspicion in accordance with article 253 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 1, but already on this day there is no doubt that the actions of the suspect will be qualified according to a more serious crime provided for in article 253 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 2, for which the law provides for prison sentences of 4 to 8 years.

The pre-trial investigation is organized and controlled by the prosecutor of the first prosecution department of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
