The agency says that global dependence on Chinese technology is also growing, adding that China is “following Russia’s lead” by spreading misinformation.
“China’s main goal is to create a division between the United States and Europe,” the service said in an annual report. “China understands very well that a divided Europe is a weak enemy and its resistance to China is unlikely to be as fierce as that of the United States.”
Estonia has long been a big concern to its great neighbor Russia, but in recent years the country has been talking more and more about China’s influence.
Mikk Marran, head of foreign intelligence, said in an introduction to the report that “China’s activities pose new security challenges every year.” He also highlighted China’s growing cooperation with Russia.
