The Moscow prosecutor’s office INTERFAX confirmed that the allegations also included a clause on driving under the influence of drugs. RIA Novosti claims, according to Moscow police, that a lawsuit has also been filed against the people who provided the actors with drugs (their identities have not yet been revealed).
Based on the results of M. Jefremov’s blood test, he was found to have a drinking volume of 2.1 per thousand.
On Wednesday morning, a division of the Moscow Interior Ministry released a video of Jefremov’s interrogation immediately after the accident. The record shows the actor sitting on the department bed. He answers the question about his condition: “I am not in any condition at the moment, I cannot speak.”
“There was a terrible accident, so I am in shock,” Jefremov said in the video. When asked if he is drunk, the actor answers “most likely” and then asks that the conversation be postponed to a later time when “he will come back to himself.” He is also asked if he admits his guilt. “Of course, and where should I go,” responds the actor.
According to police data, in 2019-2020, Jefremov was fined up to 50 fines for traffic violations, but the majority were for speeding, driving in a public transportation lane, or ignoring signs.
After the Taganska court awarded Jefremov a surveillance bracelet for promising he would not leave, his lawyers said they would not comment further to the media. “We will not make any comments now, on any subject, such a defensive position,” Yefremov’s lawyer, Yelizaveta Shargorodskaya, told RIA Novosti.
Lawyer Vitaly Chernyshev, who told the media on Tuesday that Yefremov was ready to provide “generous support” to the family of the fallen Sergay Zakharov, was no longer present at the pretrial detention hearing that night. He later stated that Mr. Šargorodskaya was still working on the case.
“No one contacted the family,” said Aleksandras Dobrovinskis, a lawyer who defends the family’s interests in court, when asked if the actor’s representatives offered them support.
A.Dobrovinskis, like another famous lawyer, Tatiana Stukalova, refused to defend the actors in court, although both received such an offer. Dobdrovinsky said he agreed to defend the family of Sergei Zakharov, who died in the accident, free of charge.
“Sergei Zakharov’s family approached me with a request for help in achieving justice. I was touched by his desire to follow his family’s example in giving the public the opportunity to learn an important lesson: Drunk driving can end in a great tragedy for many people, ”the lawyer explained to reporters the reasons for his decision.
Mash reports that the actor and his representatives called almost 50 lawyers after the incident, but most of them refused to defend their interests in court.
What did Jefremov’s wife say?
Yefremov’s wife Sofia Kruglikova, with whom the actor has three children, told Moskovsky Komsomolec that she had not seen the man since last week, who was currently in solitary confinement in a family cabin, and Yefremov remained in Moscow.
“It is a very difficult time for him now, his mother died last summer. Then Galina Borisovna Volček died. And then he lost his balance completely, drank a lot. It was practically impossible to stop him. During isolation, we had very little contact with him.” says S. Kruglikova.
According to the woman, M. Jefremov often drank with friends from the “sauna”, whom she practically does not know.
“It just caught our eye then. When the tuna snapped at me, ‘Don’t scratch, sit at home,’ I was also worried about the kids. This company was strange to me,” says the actor’s spouse.

Police officials, according to a source at RIA Novosti, carried out investigative actions at the Ulisas bar on Wednesday, where, according to preliminary data, Jefremov gave time before the accident.
“The investigation is being carried out at Bar Ulisas. Police authorities discovered whether Yefremov had spent time there before the accident. The surveillance camera records were verified,” the source told the agency.
On the eve, a video from a surveillance camera appeared on the Internet, in which a man similar to M. Jefremov parked his car unevenly and entered the building, and after half an hour leaves it. The authors of the video affirm that the recording was made in said bar.
In the same building where the “Ulis” bar is located, there is a police station in the Arbat district, says “Sudebnye krossovki”. In fact, it is only a few steps from Jefremov’s residence, where the actor will now have to make a house arrest.
Judging from the comments left online about the bar, Mr. Jefremov was a frequent visitor to the bar. “He was sitting at the table with M. Jefremov,” “Next to the old tea, and Mikhail Jefremov was sitting next to him,” the critics said. One of the review’s authors calls Jefremov’s frequent visits “one of the bar’s downsides.”
According to anonymous sources, Komsomolskaya Pravda claims that the artist was denied service at the bar that day, offering him only take-out food, which angered him with the administration of the bar and left. Officially, the administration of the bar does not comment on the situation.
On the night of July 8, M. Jefremov flew into the oncoming lane with his SUV and crashed into a Lada truck. The driver of the latter, who worked as a courier, died the following morning from the injuries sustained.
A medical examination found that Jefremov had 2.1 per thousand alcohol in his blood, which is equivalent to a bottle of vodka. The actor has been prosecuted in accordance with article 264 (4) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic regulations resulting in unintentional death). He faces up to 12 years in prison. Until August 9, the actor is under house arrest.
