Kindergarten representatives suggest changing the educators’ vaccination process: some employees are unable to work for several days after the first dose

According to Sonata Štelbienė, founder of the kindergarten “Moon Moon Children”, one of the educators felt weak after the first dose of the vaccine.

“One of the educators felt very bad, the temperature rose the same day after the vaccination and there was a crazy headache. For a day, a person could not even drink water, he was nauseous, he called an ambulance, ”said S. Štelbienė.

The woman was taken to the Santara clinic and the doctors assured her that it was a normal reaction of the body. The unpleasant symptoms for the educators passed within a few days.

While preschool representatives say staff are happy with the opportunity to get vaccinated, they acknowledge the lack of information about possible side effects.

“It can hurt the hand that received the vaccine or it can raise the temperature, but it has not been said that these phenomena will be very severe. The information brochure indicates that this will be the case for one in ten, but in our case there was no person who did not have these phenomena, one or the other, stronger or weaker ”, pointed out S. Štelbienė.

Proposes a different organization of educators’ vaccines

About half of the vaccinated private daycare workers became ill after the vaccine. Their representatives ask for a different organization of vaccination, not to vaccinate all employees during the day, but to distribute the flows in parts, because when the educators felt bad, in some kindergartens there were simply no staff available to supervise the children for a few days.

“That vaccination day ‘fell’ automatically because there was no one to work for and a relatively large number of workers had side effects, they were given sick leave the next day and again there was no one to work with children for two or more days. Our request would be to allow times to change. As we have heard, it coordinates with the athletes, taking into account their competition and training schedules, “said Ieva Jagminienė, director of the Private Kindergarten Association.

Some educators do not want to be vaccinated with AstraZeneca, but with a vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, due to the side effects that colleagues often experience.

Egidijus Milešinas, president of the Education and Science Union, said educators lack clear information on why they cannot choose vaccines.

“Just before the start of vaccination, we heard from the highest officials that all Lithuanian citizens will be able to choose which vaccine they want to vaccinate, only the most important one. When vaccination began, there was no such option, “said E. Milešinas.

The State Drug Enforcement Service is comforting: feeling side effectsnormal

The State Drug Control Agency estimates that more than 700 side effects have been reported since the start of vaccination on December 27, which are side effects of the three vaccine manufacturers.

“When it comes to Pfizer’s BioNTech vaccine, it has been recorded that more than 80 percent of patients experienced injection site pain, some sensitivity. More than 60 percent. People who received that vaccine – fatigue, more than half – headache, more than 30 percent – muscle pain, chills, about 20 percent – muscle pain. Those reactions are repeated for all vaccines, “said Sonata Stankevičiūtė, Advisor to the State Control Service Medicines, to LNK.

He noted that this reaction of the body is completely normal and shows that the immune system has begun to produce antibodies, and the unpleasant symptoms should disappear in a few days.

More side effects have been reported after the first dose of AstraZeneca.

After the second dose of AstraZeneca, these sensations should be less intense. At least that was the case in the clinical trials on the basis of which the vaccine was registered ”, said S. Stankevičiūtė, noting that the vaccines used by the three manufacturers in the EU are safe.
