“As of today, Lithuanian and Polish citizens have no restrictions on crossing borders. They also will not have to adhere to isolation. This is great news, which was confirmed last night,” said Interior Minister Rita Tamašunienė.
Starting Friday, the temporary control of the internal border will be lifted during the controls of people entering and leaving Lithuania at the border control points with Poland.
At 10 am, a meeting of Prime Ministers Saulius Skverneli and Mateusz Morawiecki will be held on the Lithuanian-Polish border.
Previously, it was announced that Lithuania would lift border controls on Friday and Poland on Saturday.
It will also be possible to cross the state border by rail through all the crossing points of the state border with Poland. Under current regulations, the state border can only be crossed by rail through the Šeštokai-Trakiškė border crossing.
From May 11. Lithuanian citizens were allowed to enter Lithuania for commercial, labor and scientific purposes, Lithuanian citizens were also allowed to go to Poland for the same reasons, and citizens of both countries were not subject to 14 days of self-isolation.
In Lithuania from June 17. quarantine is lifted, but a statewide emergency remains.
