The Prime Minister points out that even if it were decided to abandon the use of masks in open spaces before the entry into force of Quarantine Scenario A, the decision would be made taking into account the opinion of experts, not politicians.

“The government is undecided and the expert council is not even decided yet. Experts from the Board of Experts working on the issue of the quarantine regime held a meeting on the subject last Friday. Not only the members of the expert council participated in these discussions, but also the people who are interested in this issue or even oppose the masks, ”said I. Šimonytė after the government meeting on Wednesday.

“If we receive such a recommendation from the expert council – that the release could be in the previous scenario, and not as is now envisaged in the plan – then the government will rely on what the experts will offer on this matter.” We are definitely not going to touch on our personal opinions and ideas here. The opinion of the experts will be the main one here ”, said I. Šimonytė and pointed out that the talk is only about the use of masks in open spaces.

“We are talking first about open spaces, certainly not closed spaces,” he emphasized.

According to the plan approved by the Government to modify quarantine restrictions, masks in open spaces would cease to be mandatory after the entry into force of quarantine scenario A. This scenario provides for 100,000. the population presents fewer than 25 cases in 14 days and the proportion of positive tests is less than 4 percent.
