The ceremony will be different

“All the candidates are worthy of this teacher’s ring,” said Vytautas Grubliauskas, chairman of the teacher Klaipėda’s cultural awards commission, after the presentation of nine candidates before the secret ballot.

However, this time none of the commission members, including the mayor himself, realized that B. Aleknavičius, the only Klaipeda Master of Culture, whose candidacy was supported by the majority, did not want a teacher ring.

Not only that, the nominee calls for the ceremony to take place not at the castle called the heart of the city, as it has been so far, but much more modestly, at the Klaipėda Simonaitytė County Public Library I, in addition, not on August 1, during the city’s birthday, but three weeks later, when the nominee himself turns 90.

Attitude: B. Aleknavičius will be the first of the 38 Klaipėda Masters of Culture to publicly abandon the main vestments of this name: a gold ring made in accordance with the example of a Renaissance ring preserved in the Museum of History of Lesser Lithuania. (Photo by Vytautas Liaudanskis)

B.Aleknavičius will be the first of Klaipėda’s 38 Masters of Culture to publicly renounce major clothing.

“This name is a great evaluation, of course, I am happy, but I think that if I have already been chosen, I have the right to reject the expensive ring and the pompous celebrations of awarding the title of Master of Culture,” said a Klaipeda resident.

The roots are much deeper

However, the rejection of the precious ring and the majestic festivities is not just this humble man’s honorable wish not to waste the city’s funds during an economically difficult time.

The ceremony for the award of the Klaipėda Master of Culture title is associated with the so-called or true Master Ring of the Teutonic Order found in Klaipėda Castle, and with Mėmelis Castle, once the fiercest citadel in the struggle of the Order against Lithuania.

The opinion is strong and irreplaceable, therefore, I reject the Klaipėda Master of Culture ring, minted according to the copy of the lost of A. Brandenburgis.

B. Aleknavičius has his own attitude towards the activities of the Teutonic Order and his relationship with the Lithuanians, despite the fact that it was all a long time ago, but it is related to the ancestors of this honorable Klaipeda, who had to leave his homeland Against his will.

“According to my mother, I have my roots in Lithuania Minor, but I consider myself a Zanavyk of origin.” My ancestors, Naujokas, said among these stubborn colonists, “said B. Aleknavičius.

It was the last master of the order, Albrecht Brandenburg, who forced the disobedience of all the disobedient ancestors of Lesser Lithuania, including the ancestors of B. Aleknavičius.

This master is believed to have lost his precious ring at Klaip Klada Castle when he was wrapped to punish the disobedient prince of the castle.

One can guess that the owner of the ring searched for it for a long time, but only archaeologists found it after almost 500 years.

And then, according to B. Aleknavičius, a new epic of the true or supposed Master Ring of the Teutonic Order began.

Position: This year it was decided to award the title of Klaipeda Master of Culture to photojournalist and local historian B. Aleknavičius, but the candidate refuses to accept the Master of Culture ring and requests a more modest naming ceremony. (Photo by Vytautas Liaudanskis)

According to him, copies are now being made for people worthy of Klaipeda’s current culture.

This ring was to be presented to B. Aleknavičius during the city’s birthday, as this year he became Klaipeda’s Master of Culture.

The question of national self-esteem.

B. Aleknavičius is categorical on this issue.

As soon as he began to copy and provide the so-called master rings to people worthy of the Klaipėda culture, he publicly voiced his essay “Donelaiti, Open Our Eyes” published in the newspaper “Voruta”.

This idea was later reprinted in B. Aleknavičius’s book “Stop Running the River”.

Almost five years ago, after reading this book, Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus wrote to B. Aleknavičius in a letter: “I carefully turned page by page. I looked at the images of the nation’s rebirth and read heartbreaking words, both gratifying and painful. But it is historical, an unadulterated legacy for future generations. “

B. Aleknavičius himself claims that this essay exposes the essence of the ring of the master of the Teutonic Order.

“My opinion is strong and irreplaceable, therefore I reject the Klaipėda Master of Culture ring, coined according to the copy of the loss of A. Brandenburgis. I believe these funds could be used for the young talents of the port city who they create the theme of Lithuania Minor. “

The essay, among other things, quotes Vydūnas, whose thoughts only confirm the irreplaceable attitude of B. Aleknavičius on this subject: “The last and essential refraction of the nation is its self-esteem. When it destroys itself, destruction approaches unstoppably.”

It will respect the will of the nominee.

The representatives of the municipality of Klaipeda have already been informed about the application of this year’s Master of Culture.

Alvydas Cesiulis, the deputy mayor of the city, currently said that B. Aleknavičius’s wishes must be taken into account.

It is obvious that this year’s Master of Culture Klaipėda event will be different, not during the city birthday, not at the castle site and without the most important attribute, an expensive gold ring.

However, the Klaipėda Master of Culture ring is being produced.

That is the order, and there are no other options provided in the provisions to deliver the ring money to the nominee, who intends to donate to the young creators.

In accordance with a long tradition, the ceremony would take place on August 1, during the city’s birthday, at the Castle Museum.

With the help of fanfare, the Master of Culture would be presented with a gold ring made from a Renaissance ring preserved in this museum.

EUR 2 450 is allocated from the city budget for the production of a ring.

Instead of two, one

This year, nine Klaipeda residents applied for the title of Klaipeda Master of Culture: literary critic Marijus Šidlauskas, photojournalist, cultural historian and ethnographer B.Aleknavičius, actor and conductor Benas Šarka, artist-jeweler Vidas Bizauskas, chorus girl and conductor Tomas Ambauskas, conductor and conductor Tomas Ambauskas, conductor and conductor Tomas Ambauskas, conductor and Tomas Ambauskas Juškevičius, choreographer and founder of the contemporary dance theater Agnija Šeiko (Sarulienė), graphic artist Augustinas Virgilijus Burba and soloist of the Musical Theater Klaipėda Rita Petrauskaitė.

Last week, the commission intended to approve two candidates for this honorable Master of Culture title.

But this year only one will be given: “a humble man of great spirit” B. Aleknavičius.

After three rounds of voting, the second contender failed to collect the required two-thirds of the commission’s votes.

Therefore, it was decided that Klaipėda Master of Culture will be only one this year.

Since 2003, when this tradition was born, the title of Klaipėda Master of Culture has been awarded to 37 outstanding creators.

Last year, the Klaipėda Drama Theater Actress, Regina Šaltenytė, and the Artistic Director of the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, Mindaugas Bačkus, became masters of Klaipėda culture.

Applicants for the Klaipeda Master of Culture title may be nominated by Klaipeda City Cultural Institutions, creative unions, non-governmental organizations, private individuals and the Port City Department of Culture.

There were years when the Klaip Cultureda Master of Culture title was awarded to three, two, or just one creator.

The title of Master of Culture of Klaipeda is awarded to artists of the port city or other cultural workers for exceptional merits to the culture of the city.

The title of Master of Culture is a sign of respect and recognition exceptionally based on Klaipeda. This is a very important assessment of the townspeople for the developers of the port city.
