V. Pranckietis became famous in 2016, was elected a member of the Seimas and became Speaker of Parliament. The Lithuanian Union of Greens and Peasants (LVŽS) introduced him as a renowned scientist and professor.
“Ramūnas Karbauskis and all his other former colleagues called him a teacher,” Eugenijus Gentvilas, the senior of the Liberal Movement faction in the Seimas, told LNK News.
V. Pranckietis participated in the 2020 Seimas elections with this political force, and also ran as a teacher.
Now R. Karbauskis says that he called him a professor because he called himself that.
“It just came to our knowledge then. We don’t know why a person calls himself a teacher,” explained R. Karbauskis, president of LVŽS.
The CEC received an anonymous complaint that V. Pranckietis is not a teacher and is advertising incorrectly.
“I was examined by the university. And now the CEC decides and I have a choice. As one laughs at a program that V. Pranckietis will have to choose, he is a liberal or a professor, ”said former Seimas president V. Pranckietis.
There are 2 ways to become a teacher, when a pedagogical degree is awarded for special scientific achievements, V. Pranckietis does not have such a degree. It is also possible to become a professor temporarily when the university hires you to fill the position of professor.

In 2016, before turning to politics, V. Pranckietis worked as a professor at the then Alexander Stulginski University.
“I know his scientific maturity, his research and, in my opinion, he is really a professor,” said Astrida Miceikienė, rector of the Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Academy of Agriculture.
However, Anonymous, who complained to Pranckietis, claims that he worked as a teacher for only two months. Because as soon as he got a job he became a member of the Seimas and dropped out of college.

V. Pranckietis stated that although he is no longer working as a teacher, his teacher certification remains valid until the summer.
“My certification will remain valid for some time. If I was not elected to the Seimas, I could continue my career as a teacher,” said the former speaker of parliament.
A. Miceikienė, the rector of the high school, confirms that V. Pranckietis is a teacher until the summer of this year.
Although the CEC higher education institution wrote in its responses that V. Pranckietis had worked as a teacher until his election to Seimas. And on the eve of his first oath at the Seimas, he was fired as a teacher.

Pranckietis says there is an attempt to make fun of him.
“It is a field created by intimidation,” he explained.

LVŽS president R. Karbauskis, who visited Seimas, says other teachers in the country should also be interested.
“Vytautas Landsbergis raises the same question: why is he called a professor?” He asked.
