When they arrived in Lithuania for the long-awaited winter, ski resorts eagerly waited to see if they would be allowed to open. On February 1, the government approved a long-awaited decision, albeit with some restrictions on the pandemic.

“Now it is possible to ski alone with your own equipment, no more than 2 hours, the rental point does not work, the cafe does not work, the ski hill does not work. In principle, we try to eliminate all possible contacts so that it is not possible to enter the premises from anywhere ”, comments A. Bielskus about the current work of the ski center.

“We try to keep people from getting together, keep a minimum distance of 2 meters in a row, so that they don’t stop at the top of the mountain, they have to leave the territory after skiing. We strive to ensure that there are no preconditions for meeting someone to communicate with and the like, ”he added.

According to A. Bielskaus, there are no disputes about the management of flows, because people are aware: everyone is happy with the opportunity to ski and is in a good mood.

Inputs – sweep

The center announced to visitors about the upcoming job last night, and people who craved entertainment during the quarantine period instantly bought them.

“Tickets were stolen very quickly, people yearn to be outside, to do something more fun than sitting in front of the screen at home,” says the manager.

Center staff oversee the distribution of traffic and sell far fewer tickets than visitors can accept.

“We reduced the flow 3 to 4 times,” reported A. Bielskus.

However, if all goes well in the next few days, Liepkalnis Ski Center will gradually increase the number of tickets sold.

High prices

A. Bielskus states that compared to the year when the ski resort was operating without restrictions, a lot of revenue was lost due to the quarantine and operation ban.

Additionally, the company will incur additional costs as the center’s employees will be constantly screened for coronavirus – some employees will be screened today, others tomorrow.

So all these reasons have led to higher prices this season. A two-hour ski pass costs EUR 20.

“As we have enough time to work here, we have raised prices for this season, but it will only be for this season because we are severely limiting the flow of visitors,” explained the manager.

No one can predict how long the season will last. “Usually it starts to rain in February, then the skis run out,” laments A. Bielskus, adding that every working day is very important.

By the way, so far Liepkalnis Ski Center does not plan to extend its working hours.

“First we have to see for ourselves how things are going, how mountain logistics are going in general, how people are doing, and then we will see if we are extending working hours or taking some optimal options to guarantee the safety and satisfaction of all. people “- says the manager.

Ready in a few days

The ski resort had to react very abruptly: in just a few days it was necessary to hire staff, prepare the slopes and establish general rules.

“We started preparing at the end of last week, and on Monday we received good news that it will be possible to act,” says A. Bielskus happily.

He adds that he had not given up hope of opening the ski center this winter, on the contrary, he began preparing in December:
