New to Vilnius “Rytas” Rapolas Ivanauskas for the first time, it was presented in more detail to the club’s fans and the entire Lithuanian basketball community.

The English-speaking nobleman reviewed his arrival in Vilnius and the goals he set for himself.

“I spent three or four years of my life in Lithuania. I was born in Kaunas, then I lived in Šilutė, where my father played and we moved to America,” said the tall man.

– What inspired you to start playing basketball?

– My father and my cousin David Dulkys are both professional basketball players. Now speaking of tactics, you know what I do best on the field.

– You returned to Lithuania four years ago, what did you do here?

– It was great. I spent a lot of time with my family, grandparents. After a week I spent in Vilnius, Šilutė and Alytus.

– You have been invited to the Lithuanian youth teams. Why couldn’t I join them?

– Yes, I was invited to teams of sixteen, eighteen and maybe nineteen. There were problems with the documents. I am not a US citizen, so I would have no guarantees of return when I leave. I risked getting trapped here.

– You studied in three different universities, how were these experiences useful to you?

– There were many positives and some negatives. I played Northwestern University at first, but here I was stopped by two shoulder surgeries, had a shoulder muscle tear, couldn’t compete for two years, and needed a fresh start. I came to Collegiate University in New York and we did very well. We won our conference, we went into “March Madness,” it was great there, then I moved to Cincinnati a few months later.

– In the 2018-2019 season, he was voted Player of the Year for his conference. How do you rate the year at Collegiate University? So you felt more outside?

– It was a great year, then, for the first time, I played college basketball, we did very well, we gathered titles and good statistics. For the first time, I got that kind of media attention and, at the same time, pressure.

– Do you feel better in the position of midfielder or forward with a lot of advantage?

– I feel better on the hard edge, I will only play as a midfielder if the coach needs it. The center basically competes just below the basket, placing and catching shots, and I can do more.

– Why did you decide to come to Vilnius?

– This is a great opportunity to start my career. The game in Lithuania will ease the transition to professional basketball, because here I have a family and a player is needed in my position in the team.

– What is the main objective in Vilnius?

– Just get better every day, learn to play European basketball, I will try for the first time. I have a lot to learn, I hope I can do it quickly and I will do it well.
