A dramatic victory in the Euroleague was won by team USEL (14/9) from Wilerban, who 81:78 (25:23, 20:15, 12:18, 24:22) beat club Crvena Zvezda (7/16) in Belgrade.
In the first half, the productive basketball team unexpectedly prevailed and after the first ten minutes of the game, ASVEL was slightly ahead – 25:23. In the second quarter, the guests managed to break after 11: 0 – 42:29. Crvena Zvezda managed to finish the first half of the match with 8 unanswered points – 38:45.
After the big break, ASVEL still controlled the situation and kept 7-9 points ahead, but “Crvena Zvezda” finished the quarter 6-0 and caught up with the opponents – 56:57. The efforts of the Belgrade club started at the beginning of the fourth quarter, when they scored 4 more points in a row and were already ahead, 60:57.
The battle that took place point-to-point moved the winner’s decision to last minute events. Here, the hosts had two chances to get ahead in an attack, but the pitches flew past. ASVEL also had a chance when Norris Cole missed, but William Howard caught the ball on attack, and N. Cole himself 5 minutes from time, taking both penalties – 81:78. Jordan Loyd could have snatched the overtime, but his triple flew by.
