In 1957 he graduated from the B. Shchukin Theater School in Moscow.

Since 1957, he has also worked in the troupe of actors of the E. Vachtangov State Academic Theater.

Over the decades, Lanovojus has created more than 70 film roles, including the films Red Sails (Alyje Parusa, 1961), War and Peace (Voina i mir, 1965-1968), Officers (Office, 1971), Seventeen moments of spring.
