The coronavirus has been identified by two firefighters

According to the head of this board, Marius Garbenis, on June 4, the poorly rescued rescuer did not communicate with his colleagues during on-call time. He was tested for coronavirus the same day and found positive the next day.

Coronavirus tests were performed on other rescuers on the same shift. Although their responses are negative, they remain in self-isolation for 14 days.

“I was on the phone today with a coronavir-infected firefighter. He feels good, he doesn’t have a fever, he’s already started to smell, he still doesn’t feel the taste,” said M. Garbenis.

The work of the service has not been interrupted, firefighters go to the fire as usual. Shifts are formed that will switch between each other during guard time.

Another positive case of coronovirus was detected by a division of the Ukmergė Fire and Rescue Service.

“He was examined on Saturday because he had to go to the hospital on Monday and got a positive response on Sunday.” According to him, he did not feel any characteristic symptoms of this virus, “said Dainius Vyšniauskas, head of the Ukmergė Fire and Rescue Service.

According to him, he is currently coordinating to carry out tests for all Ukmergė firefighters and service personnel.

According to data from Monday, 1,720 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Lithuania, 71 people died.
