The reputation of Mindaugas Matažinskas, an architect working in the Alytus city municipality, is overshadowed by his affairs with law enforcement. Last October, after a scandal over a possible forgery, the storm has not yet abated. On the contrary, last Friday, Mr. Matažinskas was charged with abuse of power and falsification or possession of falsified documents.
This was officially confirmed by Kristina Janulevičienė, Chief of the Communication Branch of the Alytus County Police Chief Commissariat. The deputy director of the Alytus City Municipality Architecture, Urban Planning and Spatial Planning Division and the Municipality Chief Architect were charged with suspicion pursuant to Article 228 of the Penal Code. 1 d and 300 art. 1 d. He was given the most lenient arrest warrant: a written commitment not to leave his place of residence without the knowledge of the officers, the prosecutor or the court.
Information about the allegations was also confirmed by Lina Eviltienė, a prosecutor in the Alytus District Prosecutor’s Office of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office, which is overseeing the investigation.
“Yes, such allegations have been made, but I cannot reveal the details of the pre-trial investigation,” the prosecutor said.
M. Matažinskas himself declined to comment on the allegations. “There is a pre-trial investigation and I cannot comment on it. I do not want to blame anyone, I trust the opinions, I rely on the documents. Everything will become clear in the course of the investigation,” said M. Matažinskas.
After inquiring about the situation, Palmira Raškauskien Director, Acting Director of Alytus City Municipality Administration, said the municipality has not yet received official information about the allegations from the police, but has already heard conversations about the allegations. .
“Until there is an official letter, we cannot comment on the situation. When we have information, it will be decided what to do in consultation with the municipal lawyer and on the basis of legal acts,” said P. Raškauskienė.
AlytusPlius.lt recalls that the story of document forgery was heard in October last year, when forensic scientists also visited the municipality from M. Matažinskas’ office, and then collected the necessary documents from home. A pre-trial investigation was launched against the architect for possible falsification of documents.
The story seems to be gaining momentum, as suspicions have already been brought to the architect.
