“I would like to avoid the third quarantine, if this government is successful,” Prime Minister I. Šimonytė said on Monday on the “Alpha dot” program.

He said the quarantine conditions could be released from mid-February.

When asked to name a specific date, the Prime Minister hinted at a possible February 8-10 date.

“We would see when those restrictions can be eased or even lifted in some cases,” Šimonyė said.

The head of government said that after the extension of the quarantine, the WEU will identify specific proposals for release from the quarantine next week.

Among the former are beauty services that are provided per person, as well as small, non-grocery stores.

“But first we need reliable data so that we can really go in that direction. Because although the situation is improving, it is still very fragile, “said I. Šimonytė.

Quarantine extension offered for one more month

Delphi Remember that on Monday, the Government Emergency Commission (CESD) proposed to the Council of Ministers to extend the quarantine for one more month, until February 28.

“After considering all the arguments and numbers (…), the decision was made to propose to the Government to extend the quarantine for one more month, until February 28,” its president, the Interior Minister, told reporters. Agnė Bilotaitė, the Monday after the commission meeting.

It is expected that from mid-February, if the number of infections decreases, two households could be allowed to communicate and the number of inpatient services provided in medical institutions would increase.

Starting in the second half of February, a return to contact or blended learning for beginners would be considered.

Among other things, one of the first exemptions under consideration is allowing the operation of non-grocery stores, provided they have a separate entrance from the outside, as well as other safety distance requirements.

This version could come into effect in the second half or end of February.

Among the discussions is the proposal of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation to allow the operation of centers that provide cross-country skiing services, guaranteeing safety requirements. There are six such centers in Lithuania.

Until March 1, the recommendation to opt for teleworking in both the public and private sectors would be maintained, except for those functions that must be performed in the workplace.

In Lithuania, the quarantine was announced on November 7 of last year, and from December 16 its regime tightened and lasted until January 31.

Currently, many stores, sports and leisure venues are closed in the country, the movement of people between municipalities and meetings both at home and in public places is restricted.

The Government Emergency Commission can recommend decisions to the Government on the management of a pandemic. The Commission is made up of all the ministers, as well as the heads of some of the institutions.
