On January 19, a report was received that a car had sunk in the Kaunas lagoon. Everything happened in the darkness of the day.
After two hours of searching, firefighters arrived at the scene and found a Subaru car that had sunk 10 meters deep.
By clarifying the circumstances of the incident, it was possible to find out that human casualties were avoided during the disaster.
The operation to lift the car from below began on Friday morning.
The plow was cut on the ground in the afternoon. A diver dove into it, around 9 am, he swam about 50 meters under the ice until he came to a sunken car.
The Subaru lay on the roof at the bottom of the pond. The car attached to the ropes was slowly dragged towards the shore.
When the plow reached the lifting point, the car turned on wheels and was pulled ashore.
Police officers on the night of the accident, according to state numbers, found that the car is unregistered, does not have a valid roadworthiness test.
When they got the car out, it was clear that they were preparing it for special rides on the ice. It was issued by bolts screwed into summer tires to increase the car’s grip on ice.
