A new Lidl store has opened its doors in Vilnius: it will also use the self-service checkouts

On the opening day, additional security personnel were used to regulate the flow of customers, trolley handles and store surfaces were additionally disinfected, and customers were informed about compliance with security requirements. The protective masks are also distributed free of charge, according to a press release. The Pavilnis district store is the fourth the retail chain has opened during the quarantine.

For quick and convenient purchases: self-service checkouts

The area of ​​the trade room of the new store will be approximately 1,150 square meters. meters, the store is equipped with more than 100 parking spaces for buyers. From the opening of the store, there will be self-service checkouts to ensure even faster and more convenient purchases. In total, there will be 11 boxes in this store: 5 standard boxes and 6 self-service boxes. Self-service checkouts have a clear search system that allows you to easily find fruits, vegetables, cakes or nuts purchased from the system. There will always be a consultant in the self checkout area to help you with any questions you may have.

The store will have a staff of about 30 people. According to Rekvizitai.lt, the average salary of all Lidl employees, which pays one of the highest average salaries in the retail market, amounted to 1,770.26 euros before tax.

Improved district infrastructure

The opening of the Lidl store also contributed to the improvement of the infrastructure of the Pavilnis district. Part of the section of the road from the Lidl store to the intersection Juodasis kelias-Tolimoji str. handling work. Completely new pedestrian and bicycle lanes will be installed, a safe pedestrian crossing will be installed, the stormwater networks on the street section will be rebuilt and the asphalt concrete pavement will be renewed. The infrastructure works are financed by the Vilnius City Municipality.

The store itself will stand out for its cozy and bright design. The entire front facade of the new store is designed from glass showcases, which will allow natural light to enter during the day. The construction of the store also took into account the surrounding residents and their comfort: acoustic walls and new fences were installed, which will protect against external disturbances.

Currently, there are a total of 53 retail chains operating in Lithuania in 22 cities of the country: Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Alytus, Marijampolė, Kėdainiai, Telšiai, Kretinga, Mažeikiai, Tauragė, Jonava, Panevėžys, Uktemergaė Elektrėnai, Visaginas, Šilutė, Radviliškis and Vilkaviškis.
