According to the media, the gymnasium administration, threatening expulsion from the school, banned the “Guillotine” project, which was developed by gym students. The discontent of the school’s leadership was caused by a program put together by the students on US imperialism.

G. Paluckas ŠMSM asks to initiate an investigation and to explain whether the school leadership did not exceed the limits of its authority and, therefore, did not violate the students’ constitutional rights to freedom of expression and free dissemination of ideas.

“If the school management believes that the rights enshrined in the Constitution of Lithuania do not apply to its students, it should be considered whether the state should contribute in some way to the financing of the institution,” says G. Paluckas.

The president of the LSDP emphasizes that freedom of expression is essential and fundamental.

“Freedom of expression and free dissemination of ideas have no age limit. It also applies to people who are not adults. The constitution protects the free dissemination of ideas, even those that are unacceptable to anyone or cause controversy,” says G Paluckas.

Addressing the administration of ŠMSM and the gymnasium, the LSDP president says that threats of expulsion from the school and demands to change the published program are particularly surprising, as the school has no authority to interfere with leisure activities. of the students there.

The video of the program, according to G. Paluck, was not released on behalf of the school or for resources, and such bullying of students is simply aimed at stifling ideas that the school administration does not like.

“This unreasonable, reckless, cowardly and irresponsible reaction of the school leadership to the information rather indicates the inability to defend their ideas and positions with arguments. The school’s arguments in the public sphere that “anarchist” content somehow justifies the threats in the Soviet era, “says Paluck.

Addressing the Ministry and the management of the school, G. Paluckas requests answers on whether the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Lithuania apply to the Jesuit Gymnasium of Kaunas, on the basis of which legal acts were requested to change or delete the created video by “Giljožiniai”.

“Is the threat of expulsion from the school because the video complies with current law? What steps will the school take to correct its mistakes”, politicians are waiting for answers to such questions.
