Officials from the Panevėžys Wildlife Protection Inspectorate of the Panevėžys Board of the Department of Environmental Protection, while constantly monitoring compliance with the requirements of the Wildlife Trade Rules, noticed on an advertising portal an announcement that A person living in Biržai offers to buy female gray wolf pelts.

With the help of colleagues working on the Board of Panevėžys, the phone number indicated in the advertisement was contacted. After saying that the information provided in the photos and the product description attached to the ad is satisfactory, it was agreed that a friend of the Biržai “buyer” would come to collect the fur and pay for the product, AAD reports.

The gray wolf is listed in Council Regulation (EC) n. Annexes A to C of Regulation (EC) No. 338/97 on the protection of species of wild fauna and flora by regulating their trade.

The trade in these animals, their parts or products is prohibited without the separate permission of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Therefore, the officers of the Panevėžys Wildlife Protection Inspectorate who arrived in the unmarked car at the agreed time, after inspecting the fur coats, withdrew from the wallet not the requested amount of money, but the service certificate.

A person has been drawn up an administrative complaint of fault and faces a fine of 300 euros. For sale, test the skins taken and they will be confiscated.
