Nausėda emphasized that for 30 years, military volunteers have been incorporated into the national defense system, they have become an important part of it, strengthened their professionalism and combat readiness. And today they contribute significantly to the international missions of Lithuania, they spread the values of citizenship and patriotism in the general public. The coronavirus pandemic has shown that military volunteers are willing to support civil institutions if necessary and to surrender all their forces for Lithuania.
“I would like to sincerely congratulate the community of the voluntary national defense system on its anniversary. I wish all of Vytis – in the heart of Vytis, in our actions of Vytis, because for me it is the most beautiful and compelling symbol of love for our Homeland, ”said G. Nausėda.
In his congratulations, V. Čmilytė-Nielsen highlighted the importance of military volunteers for civil society.
“30 years ago, a call to the House of the Supreme Council brought in the first volunteer soldiers. Then they became a wall protecting our freedom and took an oath of vigil. This free choice of soldier-volunteers to prepare patiently and patiently, dedicate their time to exercises and take responsibility for themselves and those around them in the event of a disaster, constantly inspires Lithuanian society to be more civic and responsive. His mission assures his compatriots that Lithuania is safe and that it will no longer surrender, ”said the Seimas Spokesperson.
He thanked the National Defense Forces volunteers for their dedicated service.

The Volunteer Force was officially established on January 17, 1991. They were later called the Voluntary National Defense Service (SKAT). Since 2003, the NDV has been a member of the Lithuanian Army Ground Forces.
Approximately 5,000 people now serve in this active reserve force of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. people. A volunteer soldier participates in the exercise 20 to 50 days a year.
