The architect, former rector of the Vilnius Academy of Arts prof. Vytautas Brėdikis

V. Brėdikis was born in 1930. November 20 On stock exchanges. 1937-1949 He studied at the Biržai Gymnasium. 1949-1955 He studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Institute of Art of the LSSR, acquired the specialty of artist-architect.

1955-1965 was architect of the Institute of Urban Construction Design, 1960-1964. – Head of the group, 1964-1965 – Chief Project Architect. 1958 Member of the Union of Architects of Lithuania.

Since 1965 Professor at the LSSR Art Institute (now Vilnius Academy of Arts), 1971. – Associate Professor, 1984 – Professor. 1988-1993 was the first democratically elected rector of the Vilnius Academy of Arts of Independent Lithuania. Expert of the Scientific Council of Lithuania.
The unique educator and adored by the students taught in his own VDA palace.

His works include typical residential projects, Antakalnis and Lazdynai residential areas in Vilnius, Vilnius bus station, Vilnius University Skarga courtyard restoration project, Academy of Arts bridge and many others.

For architecture of exceptional quality, it was awarded the highest awards in the country and the architectural community. 1984 V. Brėdikis received the title of People’s Architect LSSR, 1998. He was awarded the Order of Gediminas of the third degree, in 2000. – Medal of Independence of Lithuania.
