Vilnius County Police 5:42 pm reported to the tv3.lt news portal that a total of five people died in the accident.
“The driver of the car and four passengers who were driving with him died,” Julia Samorokovskaja, a representative of LSC, told tv3.lt.
At the General Assistance Center, it was initially reported that an incident report on the Vilnius-Marijampolė highway, near the village of Penkininkai, received at 4.35pm, was oppressed and injured.
The Situation Coordination Division of the Fire and Rescue Department informed BNS that five people were injured in the accident, four of whom crashed into one of the cars.
Rescue teams rescued the victims from the cars with special equipment. Firefighters, police and ambulances are working at the scene.
Firefighters later rescued that four people with no signs of life had been pulled from the wrecked car. The fifth was injured and handed over to doctors, but as it emerged later, he did not survive.
According to preliminary data, the accident occurred when a Citroen collided with a road vehicle, then obstructed a Fiat in the same direction and pushed it into the opposite lane of the truck.
