Dakar 10th stage: Vanagas, who won the fight against a direct opponent, finished next to the top ten

In the tenth speed section, the participants had to cover 241 km of crossings and a 342 km section of speed, which was one of the shortest sections of this Dakar.

This time, the co-drivers had to be especially vigilant, for whom it was an extremely difficult speed section.

Benediktas Vanagas and Filipe Palmeiro (Inbank Toyota Gazoo Racing Baltics, Toyota Gazoo Racing Hilux) were the first Lithuanians to finish in the car class. They drove seventh for a while, but were then overtaken by two riders and were the ninth crew of the WP6.

In the last intermediate final, Spaniard Nani Roma also overtook them and pushed the crew to tenth place, and finally B. Vanagas finished eleventh (+00: 11: 16). B.Vanagas 6 min. 19 sec. he overtook Frenchman Cyril Despres, who was ahead of him, and climbed to 11th place in the overall standings.

Antanas Juknevičius and Darius Vaičiulis (KREDA, Toyota Hilux Overdrive OTB) repeat this year’s best result achieved in stages 5 and 6 and finish 22nd (+00: 20: 12). They are now moving from 29th place in the overall ranking to 28th place.

Edvinas Juškauskas and Aisvydas Paliukėnas (Heston Airlines Team Pitlane, Toyota Hilux Gazoo Racing) surpassed this speed section in the 25th fastest time (+00: 23: 20), and in the general classification they climbed from 27th to 26th place.

Gintas Petrus and Jose Marques (Petrus Kombucha Team, Optimus EVO 3) rode the entire 40-speed stage, but improved their position on the last stage and finished 38th (+00: 36: 23).

The tenth stage in the car class was won by Saudi racer Yazeed Al Rajhi (3 hours 3 minutes 57 seconds), for whom it was the second speed section won this year. 2 minutes of it. 4 sec. the Cathar Nasser Al-Attiyaho was left behind, and 2 min. 53 sec. – Stephane Peterhansel from France.

Arūnas Gelažninkas (Zigmas Dakar Team, KTM 450 Rally Replica) finished 23rd in the motorcycle rankings this time (+00: 45: 14) and this is his best result this year (so far the best was 26th place achieved by 8GR) . In the “Vienišiai” category, A.Gelažninkas was unmatched and further increased his lead over his closest rivals.

In this section of speed, A.Gelažninkas beat Romanian Emanuel Gyenesas by 18 minutes. 48 sec. and in the general class of “singles”, it is preceded by 1 hour. 2 minutes. 21 sec. In the general classification of the motorcycle category, A. Gelažninkas remained in 23rd place and is 1 minute behind Sebastian Buhler, who is in 22nd place. 43 sec.

American Ricky Brabec won the tenth stage in the motorcycle category (3 hours 12 minutes 33 seconds), the second was the Spanish Joan Barreda Bort (+00: 03: 15), and the third was the winner of the daily stage of yesterday Kevin Benavides from Argentina (+00: 05: 11).

José Ignacio Cornejo Florimo, former Chilean third and overall leader in the ninth stage, was only 11 this time (+00: 17: 42), as he fell badly after 252 km and did not feel well.
