The first unit of the Astravo nuclear power plant became fully operational

“January 12 7:57 pm The first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has reached the nominal level of energy capacity”, confirmed the representatives of the Ministry of Energy to the news agency BelTA.

The thermal capacity of the unit is 3,200 MW, the electrical capacity is 1,170 MW.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, the unit is currently undergoing static and dynamic tests, and after 15 days, the final test of the systems and equipment will be carried out at full capacity.

Once the tests have been successfully completed, the Admissions Committee will allow the start of commercial operations of the first unit of the Astravo nuclear power plant.
Belarus is building a 2,400 MW nuclear power plant near the city of Astrava, which is only 50 km from Vilnius. The plant will be made up of two 1,200 MW power units.
