This is stated in the party’s press release. However, the fundamental intrigue remains whether S. Skvernelis will lead the party list in the elections. This question has not yet been answered.
Ramūnas Karbauskis, the president of LVŽS, stated that the party list would not contain the names of new famous people who would not have been seen before at LVŽS activities.
According to him, the election will be attended by all those who have demonstrated that they have a political backbone and that they can adequately represent the interests of the voters. The LV®S will also not use any populist slogan in the elections, but will try to showcase the work done as much as possible, while also mentioning what has failed, pledging to maintain the continuity of the work begun, and naming the party’s plans for the future.
“During the election campaign, we will dispel the myths that the opposition and its supporters have been creating about us all these years. Our list will include people from LVŽS who are respected for their political views, who have not disappointed our voters and will represent them fairly and honestly in the future. The only real alternative to the coalition formed by the LVŽS in the next Seimas term is a coalition formed by the conservatives. People will now be able to easily compare the decisions of the current government with those of the conservative government during the economic crisis 2009-2010. The differences are too obvious, and what the nation will choose will become clear after the Seimas elections, “R. Karbauskis said in the press release.
The LVŽS President confirmed that S. Skvernelis would participate in the elections with LVŽS in a single-member election, in which he also participated in the last elections. This is the Karoliniškės district of the capital.
R. Karbauskis himself does not respond if he will run for a single-member constituency, he only mentions that he doesn’t have much time to work in his single-member constituency.
The party president confirmed that former Interior Minister Eimutis Misiūnas will run in Utena. Government Chancellor Algirdas Stončaitis will also participate in the elections with LVŽS. According to R. Karbauskis, Member of Parliament Agnė Širinskienė will be on the multiple-member list.
Collaborate with social workers.
The LV®S Council meeting emphasized that the success of the coalition partners in the upcoming elections was especially important. It was decided to nominate joint candidates with coalition partners in some single-member constituencies. Six joint candidates were approved at the meeting:
President of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Labor Party Gediminas Kirkilas – in Vilnius, social worker Rimantas Sinkevičius – in the Jonava district, representative of this party Rimantė Šalaševičiūtė – in the Telšiai district, Minister of Agriculture Andrius Palionis – in the Dainava district, prof. Antanas Vinkus – in the constituency of Curonian, Naglis Puteikis, the leader of the Center Party “Welfare Lithuania” – in the Danish constituency.
Other joint and remaining LV®S candidates will be decided at the next party council meeting. In early July, the LVŽS Council will sort the list of LVŽS nominated candidates into the constituency of various Seimas members.
He hopes to form a center-left coalition after the elections
The LVŽS leader said he agrees with current coalition partners that he would like to form a center-left coalition after the elections.
“Today we were the presidents of two of our associated parties: G. Kirkilas and N. Puteikis, I think that the Polish Lithuanian electoral campaign thinks the same, that we will try to form the next ruling majority in the center left. These are the same parties.
I can only say that it is very difficult to work when we have a ruling majority that has 68 votes because conservatives and liberals are withdrawing the letters, which is why we have a hard time passing laws. Therefore, we will ask voters to slightly increase that number, “said R. Karbauskis.
Prime Minister S. Skvernel said he had no questions about which political force to run for.
“Why are there probably no questions with the ‘peasants’, I am a member of this ruling majority, the prime minister, and it is probably natural. If we have the main idea: to continue the work, then, if the voter decides, we will continue the work” S. Skvernelis said.
He himself said that he and the ministers would have a job in the Government until the end of their mandate.
It is still unclear who will be on the party’s electoral roll and where. This should be clear in early July.
LVŽS party president said this period was exceptional as party members would not have the opportunity to have a contact election campaign.
Party members were found to be carrying enormous amounts of impressions. The LVŽS president said these are letters for seniors, which were printed in the winter but were not distributed.
