This was announced by S. Gentvilas at a press conference on Friday. According to him, the complaint of Donatas Bagočius, a specialist at the Klaipėda Board of the Department of Environmental Protection (AAD), about his pressure is being investigated.

The minister added that he receives a “disproportionate” number of complaints from AAD staff.

“We get a disproportionate number of complaints from employees, that is, department staff. There are specific complaints from the unions and, as a minister, I have to react,” Gentville told a news conference on Friday.

According to him, complaints and conflict resolution are the responsibility of AAD Director Olga Vėbrienė.

“If we see that there will be such a relationship with all employees, other institutions and the ministry, we will make decisions,” the minister warned.

According to the media, D. Bagočius, who was on vacation, was removed from his post after allegedly sharing official information about the contaminants spilled at the Būtingė terminal with third parties: Minister S. Gentville and his adviser Marijus Gailius.

D. Bagočius himself told LRT television that he had been deported the same day, without any investigation. The expulsion of D. Bagočius was also criticized by S. Gentvilas.

“It cannot be the case that employees of a subordinate institution cannot call the ministry, all the more so because it is not a state secret,” the environment minister told LRT on Thursday.

The decision to dismiss D. Bagočiai was outraged by the environmental union, she accuses AAD director O. Vėbrienė of standing up.

O. Vėbrienė, the head of the AAD since August last year, issued a public letter on Friday about the “critical” situation in the environmental system and the pressure at work.
