At the start of the speed section: the medley of the Dakar technique line

After capturing the best result of 2021 on stage five, the KREDA team crossed the finish line in 23rd place. After cutting the sixth speed stage, which crowned half the Dakar, by 100 kilometers, the organizers decided to take the confusion to the usual surprise action. The start times of the three different Dakar classes were again mixed up and written on a white sheet of paper in one line, which Dakar parents should christen in the name of Meat Grinder.

Starting 43rd, 17 SSV trucks, light prototypes and motorcycles lined up in front of the racing duo. More than half of the slowest front-wheel drive team consisted of trucks considered the Dakar giants.

The crew had to patiently “armor” themselves and wait very patiently for the right moment, pushing due to the location of the vehicles on the runway path and not having enough room to turn. During that wait for a fair and saving moment to bend, the bodies of the racers sitting in the cabins of the cars had to process more than a kilogram of dust and drive slower than their limits.

Starting from the idea expressed by the partners themselves, “The more difficult it is, the better for us”, we can safely say that the challenges prepared by the organizers have been met. The Dakar punk duo climbed up and after spending 4 hours and 21 minutes on the track, at 4:01 p.m. Lithuanian time, the crew reached the finish line of the sixth speed section, provisionally in 22nd place.

How does the KREDA team rate the day?

“Antanas drives something very slow. I’m joking, of course. Everything is fine today, no obstacles,” said his teammate Darius Vaičiulis, who was smiling into his ears.

“I slept half a day and drove well the other half, but everything was very normal. We had too much fuel with us, an additional 100 liters, which was not necessary due to that canceled section of the speed section. The car was driving hard. That sand is so cursed here that it blocked all the wheels, but it’s the way it is, most importantly, in the end, ”said runner Antanas Juknevičius, who gave a brief overview of the day.
