Artūras Gudaitis played the most productive game of his career, and Zenit St Petersburg, which hosted the empty OAKA stadium, won 89:77.
The Lithuanian started his show from the first minutes of the game – a block for the rivals, in the next attack – getting into the basket. After a few moments, the Terminator threw a hook through Panathinaikos center Georgios Papagiannis.
In the winning match, A. Gudaitis made four shots with a precise extra free kick, and in the long break had scored 15 points.
In the third quarter, the Klaipėda player scored two points, which was the limit of 1000 points obtained in the Euroleague.
He finished the game with 25 points (10/13 two points) in his account, he put the ball in the basket three times, making 5 free throws of 6.
During his Euroleague career, A. Gudaitis had twice reached the 20-point limit, while still representing the Milan Olimpia team: in October 2017 against Real Madrid and in December 2018 against Panathinaikos.
After a powerful performance, the modest Lithuanian highlighted stability.
“It just came to our notice then. As I mentioned before, I need to be more consistent. I’m glad I was able to help the team in this way, but I have to continue,” said A. Gudaitis after the 25-point match.
The 27-year-old center played 26 minutes, which is Gudo’s personal record this season, averaging 18 minutes per game.
The center, who wore the shirts of Kaunas “Žalgiris”, Milan “Olimpia” and Saint Petersburg “Zenit” during his Euroleague career, played the 111th match of this tournament.
Kevin Pangos, a Canadian, made a great contribution to A.Gudaitis’ record-breaking performance, making 10 assists and scoring 18 points.
“We have a lot of great men in the team. It makes my job easier. I try to put the ball in a situation that is comfortable for them and they finish the job. I enjoy playing with this group of players,” said the former Žalgiris resident.
